Ken Starr learned the art of making wine by his father's side in 1952. When stationed in Europe in the early 60's, Ken appreciated the German style of wine making and has brought the Old World Ambiance to Curwensville, PA. Today the romance and the talent are passing once again to Ken's son and his sons, now four Generations of wine makers, the tradion continues. Laurel Mountain Vineyard

Established in 1995, Laurel Mountain Vineyard opened in Falls Creek, Pa. The Winery and gift shop are in a renovated barn circa 1900. It's easy to find the location between Dubois and Brockway. Free wine tasting and tours are provided by a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Juice is used for wine production and is mainly from the Lake Erie Area. Many varieties from dry to sweet are available. Most popular wines are semi-sweet blends: Mountain Mist, Laurel Blush and Rattlesnake Red. Less sweet favorites are Bella Rosa, Pinot Grigio and Raspberry Cabernet. Unique wines are Groundhog Grog and Punxy Tawnic.
A large gift shop features wine-related items and gourmet foods for custom gift baskets. Free private wine labels are available for personal and corporate gifts. Also, wine making supplies and kits are always in stock for "home" wine and beer makers. Visitors are invited to see the museum collections of antiques - some more that 100 years old. The "Antique Tool Museum" contains many old tools from the family farm. Visitors may tour the museum and try to identify five of the ten mystery tools to win a bottle of wine.
A picnic pavilion is available for private events. Laurel Mountain hosts "Sunset at the Winery" events where customers can enjoy live music and good food. Due to popular demand eight sunset events are scheduled from May to September. Check out our website for current listings. Winery customers are welcome to come bring their lunch anytime and enjoy the beautiful country setting of Laurel Mountain Winery.
Sunset at the Winery - Enjoy sights and sounds of summer in our picnic pavilion. Ten dollars gets you a logo wine glass, wine discounts, and loads of fun. Food is available while listening to live music. We have increased the number of events to satisfy demand. Also we have added three new bands. Check us out this summer. 10th Annual Cider Pressing Demonstration and Tasting at the Winery - Sunday, October 7th - Noon - 3pm. Listen to live music, sample fresh cider, and turn the crank on the old cider press. Oktoberfest foods and cider will be available.
